What to do in Sandburg Village
Sandburg Village is named after Chicago’s own poet, Carl Sandburg, who famously called Chicago the "City of Big Shoulders." In his honor, the Chicago Historical Society, located at North and LaSalle, has a restaurant called Big Shoulders Café.
This exclusive area is just a few blocks from the city’s best shopping and restaurants. The Magnificent Mile is a one-mile stretch of tree-lined streets that starts at the Chicago River and runs north to Oak Street. It boasts internationally known shops, upscale hotels and some of the finest dining in the world.
Sandburg Village has the famous Oak Street Beach and North Avenue Beach right down the block, so it’s an ideal area for biking, volleyball, working out, running, walking or just enjoying the lake. Both beaches have summer restaurants that reside right on the sand.
