Get to Know Rogers Park

A sprawling community in the northernmost section of Chicago, Rogers Park is the only Chicago community with direct access to Lake Michigan. In fact, many of its buildings have been constructed right next to the beach and offer spectacular views.

Rogers Park's borders are from Devon on the south; the town of Evanston on the north, Western on the west and Lake Michigan on the east.

What to do in Rogers Park

Residents enjoy a lifestyle similar to that of their Near North neighbors, but with less expensive housing. Lake Shore Drive, the Metra Train and the CTA's Red Line give excellent access to downtown and to Chicago's northern suburbs.

With eight beautiful beaches in Rogers Park, Lake Michigan is always just a few blocks away. Its lakeside location offers many recreational activities, such as swimming, boating, fishing, walking and relaxing. Rogers Park also has many small parks along the lake, which is ideal for its many growing families.

Neighbors to Edgewater and Andersonville, Rogers Park residents have excellent access to those eclectic shopping areas and family-oriented summer festivals. On its own, Rogers Park offers many wonderful shops and restaurants influenced by a wonderful diversity of cultures. The community also supports many art and coffee houses, especially along on Sheridan Road.

Rogers Park's Distinctive Housing

Rogers Park housing ranges from large Victorians and bungalows, to converted condos and multi-unit buildings. Housing is affordable, but noticeably on the rise. As there is a high-rise construction ban from Sheridan Road east to the lake, most buildings along the lake area are either low-rise or two- and three- flats. Overall, the community has grown with hundreds of new affordable units being developed each year.
