Get to Know Tri-Taylor

On the Near West Side is Tri-Taylor, a pocket neighborhood of the growing West Loop. Due west of University Village, Tri-Taylor has a desirable, highly accessible location between Roosevelt and Harrison, and Halsted and Ashland.

Tri-Taylor Historic District, a national landmark neighborhood, is located just west of the Medical Center on Oakley from Grenshaw to Congress Parkway. An historic port of entry for new immigrants, this area was once packed with people from all over the world at the turn of the century. Today, this growing area is stabilized by the University of Illinois at Chicago and Chicago’s medical district.

What to do in Tri-Taylor

This neighborhood is energetic with new life due to new development as many government, businesses and the community are working together to further its development.

A short walk from Little Italy and Taylor Street, Tri-Taylor is near to some of the best Italian restaurants and bakeries in the city. It’s also convenient to the delicious restaurants of Chicago’s Greek Town on Halsted.

Tri-Taylor’s Distinctive Housing

The city awarded parts of Tri-Taylor landmark status to preserve its essential old-world flavor. This charming European-style community is characterized by tree-lined streets of restored 19th-century rowhouses and two- and three-flats, as well as new townhouses and single-family homes. Many of the buildings were constructed just after the fire of 1872 and are often built with Joliet limestone.
